Hi guys! Last weeknd I finished another model!!! >:(It´s an Athearn Blue Box. I bought it as dummy unit, but I found a RTR motor and gears, so the unit now is powered. Added a lot of fittings, including a new handrail set from the new versión. The loco has a Locksound V4.0 decoder and a DSM Railmaster speaker under the rear grill. I feel the weathering is maybe a bit overdone, but I like to see it in action with my other weathered units.

Looks better under natural lighting. Man that thing is filthy.
I noticed the orange AC unit, no BNSF marks on the cab? Did the 601 never get sub-lettered after the merger?

I didn´t know that Mike... so, should I have BNSF marks under the #601? I can fix it.

I dont know for sure, Im not a big Santa Fe/ BNSF guy. I know a lot of stuff had the sublettering added after the merger, but I know some stuff didnt ever get it.

I found online that it was sublettered prior to 2004. Didn't find older photos to narrow down the date further.

You know, its ironic that the Santa Fe never let the warbonnets get dirty like that, but after the merger, the new establishment let them go and tried so many different schemes before finalizing the current one.

Breaks my heart to see them like this in real life but I have to say you sure nailed it with this model. This is one of the best examples of a paint job that has seen it's share of hard work and desert sun that I have ever seen.
Outstanding work.
