How does having two motors work with DCC? Are there special decoders that you need to use or just make sure the current rating of the decoder works with the draw on both motors? Is the main advantage to the two smaller motors space savings for sound/speakers? Do they operate the with the same characteristics as the traditional single motor locos?

the decoder can't tell if its one or two motors, no special decoder is needed. Yes you want to make sure that the stall current is not higher than the decoders rating. I wanted to use the two small motor because I don't like the Athearn RTR motors and I wanted more room for the speaker. The locomotive operation is extremely smooth and quiet with the two motors, in a wider body shell I will try to connect the motors directly to the worm gear eliminating the need for drive shafts. The motors are rated at 7VDC but have no problems at 12VDC. Normally I never run my engines at top speed anyway, I set my top voltage to 10VDC for this decoder. Rated Voltage: 7.0V No Load: 14800RPM No load current: 0.05A Stall current: 0.68A Stall torque: 25g.cm

I know what you mean about spotting flaws in your models. I think most every detailer can spot things he (or she) could have done better. Learn from this build, resolve to make the next one better and keep churning out the fleet. 5475 looks fine, you've done a good job on it.

I had a bit more room for weight inside this thing, I'm just wondering if I put in too much 0.592kg that's 1.3lbs. it feels like its going to be ripping coupler's off
