Hey Nick,
I really like what you did with this model. The detailing and finish is top notch. You are your most difficult critic. Looking at your pictures, I would have to think most of us would be quite pleased with the outcome. I enjoyed watching(and learning from) your build. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Mike

Cheers, Mike Thank you Mike...I appreciate the kindness! Overall, I am pleased with the model. I just get discouraged when, as I am working on the model, things start to go wrong. The little things just start adding up and on this model I had a couple of very bad errors...almost couldn't save it. In the end, it came together as a complete picture that obscures some of those small issues and I chose pics to post that partially obscure the others. It looks good running on the layout and that's what really matters to me.

I, too, get discouraged when things don't go exactly how I expected them to. My dad always says, "Expectations ruin everything." I usually get to the "finished-but-not-weathered" step and HATE my work. All I can see are the errors and compromises that had to be made to get the finished stage. (Remember that, if you keep your little mistakes to yourself, usually no one can point them out...) You have very successfully captured the character of this weather-beaten and well used unit. It is a fine replica. You should be extremely proud, you are a talented artist!

I'm also glad I'm not alone in the "I can see all my errors" boat.

Nick~ Looking at the proto photos and then your finished photos I found it hard to tell the difference. You are the builder and have done remarkable work and you also did your home work on the prototype. I think your model is awesome. My father's hobby is woodworking and when he has to fix an imperfection he usually wants to just start over and I tell him that the difference between a good woodworker and a great woodworker is how they are able to deal with the small detail mistakes, because lets face it no matter how good we are; we are all still human and all of us make errors.

I've got a big bone to pick with your model here. Big time criticism. I would suggest you remove the photos at once. The prototype photo of the right side has the unit on a bridge. Your model photo has in a grassy field. Just does not match the prototype. Other than that..........I got noth'n. Really enjoy seeing the model work. Although it goes without saying the finished model is always enjoyable to view. I really like the see the modeling process. That is what helps people learn how to improve their own skills.

Great job, I cut two opening holes above the speaker, the screen will cover it, increased the sould volume by 2, also remove the truck wires from going through the speaker enclosure and cover the holes makes for better sound.
Just a thought for better sound on your fantastic job

Just a thought for better sound on your fantastic job Thank you jwar! Also, I appreciate the tip on the sound but my model is not sound equipped. Actually, none of my engines are. My layout is just too small and not to mention, I have a difficult enough time just finding enough space to wire decoders and lights. I couldn't imagine having to fit speakers in there.

Hey Nick, off the chain mang! You know I will still give this one a good home, as it is most excellent! Despite being our own worst critics, we are our own worst critics.
