Hi Everyone,
What is a painted Lady you ask? Well a WLE painted lady is one of two ex Southern HH GP 35 painted in a red and yellow paint scheme for the Wheeling and Lake Erie. All of the WLE units were patched over ex Southern or N&W units until these two were painted in this scheme. They also have been called Kodachrome's as well.
This was a fun build for a few reasons. First I am a closet Southern fan so this gave me the opportunity to build a Southern unit and a HH to boot. Second I get to build a unit I have seen first hand as well. I enjoy having a story to tell behind a engine other than just a road number.
Third I got to build a engine using one of Bob Harpe's online clinics as a guild. Bob was helpful in answering some Southern specific questions. plus it was a pleasure to meet Bob in person at the Marion RPM meet this past year.
Some of the key spotting features are a long tool box mounted on the walk way behind the engineer's cab door, Southern cab shades, and trianglar shaped fuel guard with the dual fuel gauges.
So here is the prototype.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at this build. I would like to thank Bob Harpe again for his willingness to share his modeling knowledge. If any one has any questions just ask. I know she is clean a pretty, but the freind i built this for is going to do his own DCC install and Weathering. he promised to send me photo when it is done. I will post them when I get them. I have several detail photos of this completed model. If there is any thing you would like to see in detail just let me know.
