It's pretty hard to beat someone to a build on here so here is another 70 tonner build. The same guy who asked me to build him a model of " the last train to leave PEI" asked me to build him a fleet of 70 tonners. He gave me a total of seven Bachmann models. Two of which were completely finished - I added ACI plates and a sinclair antenna to each. A third is basically an out of the box model painted for CN and lacks the key details. The other four were undecorated models. Here are some general progress shots of the build. Mods were very simply. Here we see 35 working the yard in "Charlottetown, PEI" back in the early 1980's. More to come, including a roster shot of all seven at some point.

Sometimes I wish CP had some so I could do a few of those little guys up. Nice painting on that one!
I presume one will end up numbered 30, after the one preserved at CRM Delson?

30, 35, 40 and 41 are going to Gordon. He gave me three to do for myself which will become other numbers Dan. I'm just waiting on parts.

Bell is from Miniatures by Eric - Part B15.
Side note - I was one set of class lights short on the second locomotive. These were shipped today so I should have them by the end of the week.

I finished the second 70 tonner yesterday, after painting a record three locomotives in one afternoon. Here are the end results:

A CN Transfer van. Sylvan used to make resin ones and there are a few brass ones around.

A CN Transfer van. Sylvan used to make resin ones and there are a few brass ones around. I managed to find three of them. Two were the last ones they had at Sylvan and the other was an Ebay find. I still have to assemble one. Do you know if they ever ran these down in the Valley Rick? I have heard that CN had used them between Oxford Jct and Tatamougouche but they seemed to like the RSC-24's down your way.

Not sure what came across on CN to Middleton from Bridgewater but the DAR through the Annapolis Valley was all CP stuff. Just checked around the HSWDPI and the RSC 18s and the RSC-24 showed up down here coming across from Bridgewater. The 70 T were a PEI thing mainly IIRC. They had a 44T at Bowater. hswdpi.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Diesel

I finished four of the four for the client tonight. The other night he dropped me off a third 70 tonner for me to keep. It was decorated for CN however lacked all the CN-esque details. Regardless, I snuck it into the photos, hiding the number and the incorrect area. Here are some shots of the "four" of them on the layout. I really must say this new camera I just got takes incredible photos. One could swear the first shot was taken from the Moncton deadline circa 1982, however the background gives it away: Now I know what Eric feels like when he looks at his bench and sees five or six of something, ie S-13's haha. Now for the money shots, here we see an extra coming off the mainline into Charlottetown yard circa 1976, returning from the Souris Subdivision with a single hopper and a caboose. In the background another freight is preparing to leave the yard with some cars bound for New Brunswick, via the Bordon-Cape Tormintine ferry.

You're missing the all-orange cab'd 41, oh, wait I see it there in black... Grrrr, now you got me lookin' seriously at Bachmann 70Ts!!! Yeah, well we talked the guy out of doing it. We all dislike the all orange cab - it just doesn't fit these. He wanted the last four to operate here so he initially wanted it too. Since his layout will be early 1960's till early 1980's we were able to talk him out of it. Funny story on 41..there are actually two of them in this shot. The third unit on that train is also 41, he gave it to me later and said to keep it as it's DC. Its decorated but missing most of the details. Side note - I'm going to get the contract to build him three or four RSC-13's as soon as I can figure out the trucks.

Side note - I'm going to get the contract to build him three or four RSC-13's as soon as I can figure out the trucks. You will make a fortune if you figure those out. I'd be tempted to model the 70-80's if the A1A truck was available.
