Looking for information on what type of headlight the Western Pacific would have used for the tail of their B units. According to the book “The Revolutionary Diesel EMC’S FT by Diesel Era”, Western Pacific used steam locomotive head lights as a roof top mounted rear light on all their FT’s. This is an F with the light on it. Not sure if all were the same type back then!

Found it on the web in images. Lee Freeman of Southern California posted it on Details West web site. Sure would like to see her in person. Might get that good some day. RJ

RJM, Joe Strapac's book covered this in the wp F7 section somewhat and has a little info. I have a bag of steam lights, let me go through them to see if we can find a match. I do have a couple that will be added to the Bowser A/B in the orange paint. These lights came from 4-8-2's maybe others.

Thanks John, what is PIA? Found a Sunbeam Headlight that looks close, don't know much about headlights yet, am still researching them. RJ

Are there any pix of the prototype FTBs w/ that headlight? Looked thru my collection but couldn't find any.

RJ, I've been trying to use the pm, but forget about it. I was trying to pm Braian about milling 4 frame (For F units) to do the de-skirted version as Dave Hussey shows on his pbase . How goes your search for lights?

Thanks for asking John Found these that you recommended, #2657 Headlights, Pyle, w/visor(4)on e-bay for good price in plastic. Shaved off the visor to match the Prototype. Drilled out the stem, could not get a grain of wheat bulb in the fixture. So drilled the top and made a plug out of styrene. Got some smleds coming from Germany to put in place of the grain of wheat ones.Still dry fitting all the parts onto the shell. Checking things twice for hand grabs and lift rings before I paint. What is the deskirting about? Willing to take suggestions on this WP project. RJ
