Working on my FWWR engine, the first 4 are GP38-3 that have been rebuilt from GP35 chassis. What im trying to figure out is how to do the Dynamic Fan for this engine: On units 2001 and 2003 I am using some Athearn GP35 for starters. I was going to use Cannon & Co 1852 fans but as you can see there seems to be a section below the fan to make then a little taller. Anybody got an idea on how to achieve this? For units 2000 and 2002 I will be starting with Kato GP35 phase 1b.

Cannon dynamic fans come with an optional spacer to model this.

I think I remember a Dave Hussey article on detailing GP40-2's which had fans lifted like this. If I remember correctly he took a piece of index card and layed it under the cannon fan for the spacing. It's that easy.

It's an old article though probably before the Cannon spacer was added.

Ok I got a dumb question, what is the difference between the Dynamic Fan and Radiator Fan series. They look similar to me I thought I knew what I needed now looking at them they all seem to be the same. What am I looking for distinction between them. I need the fans for the above unit. I'm going to use the new 36" fan for the smaller radiator one so they all will be C&C fans. I thought I needed 1701 48" radiator and 1852 Dynamic but now I'm not sure.
