Below is the link from a previous thread where I was building an NS GP60 with ICE features. Due to some damage suffered during the soldering of brass handrails I had to replace the inertial air filter components; long story short I figured that I might as well take the opportunity to add NS designed split cooling and make version 2 of my crescent cab and use them on this unit as a bit of a fantasy thing. Here is the link: dieseldetailer.proboards.com/thread/12060/ns-gp60-7119I haven't decided what to call this yet. The obvious choice is GP60E following recent NS nomenclature, however, their recent re-powering of GP38-2 #5301 with a V8-710ECo prime mover, has resulted in no name change so I am not sure where to head with this one yet? Here is a mock-up with version 1 of the crescent cab and the split cooling so you can see what I am aiming at: Hopefully this will add quite a unique model that is most decidedly an NS creation but also not a standard GP60M.

Here is a shot of 5301 - the split fan needs to be changed out for a proper cap top, which I now have... Initial build shot: further progress in primer: nearly finished: And here is another shot of a GP59E I'm also working on (the back shell). This is a BB GP50 shell, so the doors are not exact, but it's very close and that is a GP60 dynamic. The clean room hatch was cut down and replaced. The Q's are intact... These mods are pretty easy, they just take time. But, when finished, you have something you can't purchase which is cool. Good luck with your project. The cab would be the most challenging for me, as I am not especially good at getting precise cuts just yet.

Looks like you've got some good stuff going on there! I'm undecided about the re-powered GP38-2, I am tempted to just paint my 38-2 for the NPBL OLS unit instead. Not quite sure how much I like that particular model, however, this 60 series will take a while, now I am home that cab will take weeks instead of days like it did when I could devote every work night to it at sea.
I need to replace the 36" with a flat top fan to, but I know SD60E #6901 has one of these fans so I am tempted just to leave it on my GP60??whatever??
I do like having unique stuff, that's where this GP60 project came from, well, that and the fact I don't have an SD60! Lol.

After I posted this I started poking around the 59E pictures and saw that I should have used the GP60 body. So add a Cannon Blower conversion to the work that had to be done to the BB shell. Luckily I had one here and just needed to drill, cut file and sand a bit to get the correct hosing fitted... almost ready for paint.

Nice progress. I'm at the 'I've got to build the cab' stage so mine will take a little longer. Got a few other units almost ready for paint though.

Not yet, been side tracked by life and a few other bits and bobs. Hoping to start the cab soon.

For a number of reasons this project is now up for sale. I will provide the remaining handrails and if somebody requires I will provide the cab and roof fan to complete the project.
I'm asking $35 plus shipping but I will take offers so if you have an interest please PM me.
