I am starting on my first build. I have two Atlas Silver series DT&I Gp40-2's (w/o DB) that I am converting to GP38mac's. There is a lot of detail I would like to save on these models if I can. I will strip the paint off and repaint and I will remove the middle fan and add a filter box. What I would like to know is there anyway to remove the grab irons and other details to be able to reuse them once the model is painted and redetailed? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Brett.

Hi Brett,
Yes you can remove the details and reuse them. I would recommend removing all the details before striping. If you don't there is a good chance you could break or lose details. For removing the grab irons I place a flat head screw driver behind the grab and gently pry up. If you are trying to save the lift rings take a #17 Xacto chisel blade and scrape back the melted plastic under each detail, then take your tweezers and gently remove your details.
Hope this helps and gets you started in the right direction. Good luck on your project and post some photos to show us your progress.

Thanks Erik,
I will give it a try. I figured I could but I just wanted to run it by someone first. Thank you again.
