Just tried out TLT warm black for the first time and I like it! Reminds me of the magic Tamiya Olive Drab that smoothed out magically thru my old Badger 350! Bravo TLT! Its a Kato NW2, not much added other than horn, antennae, full height Plano hood louvers, & CN spark arrestors. I chose 7937 because it made it all the way to 1979 (my era) with the original arch top windows and steam type bell. Most were converted by the late 60's to the SW8 gasketted window style. Microscale noodle, Accu-cal number decals with homemade numberboards and black front numerals. (thanx Highball!) The Kato unit is HEAVY and a great puller. I picked this one off ebay for $49! (it happens, rare I know...) Just have to finish painting the spark arrestors and adding the long handrails, some weathering, and that should do it. Another Switcher for the collection...

She looks great, nice paint job. The TLT Warm Black is indeed quite nice, I've done most of my shell frames using it as I find the flat black kinda...flat.

I've always been a stanch supporter of Floquil flat black, but it takes weeks to fully dry. I also use Accupaint (trucolor) too and like it cuz the pigment is tiny. Someone told be it was silk-screen paint, makes sense. I found floquil and trucolor black on my CN vans for example was too black, this warm black should do the trick on the Athabasca CN van on the bench. I always steered clear of water-based stuff cuz if it wasn't Tamiya it was crap. Badger really turned me off the stuff. I'm going to try the other TLT paints for sure now.

Engine looks nice Sean, I have not tried the TLT paint. I still have many bottles of the Floquil Paint before the formula change and now have a great affinity for Scalecoat I and II for my painting purposes. (Prefer the solvent type paints).

I've used the Warm Black as well, I liked it but I gave up on it. It's too hard to get on PEI so I went back to semigloss black from Model Master.

Looks great Sean. I think you should bring some of your models to the Marion Ohio RPM meet - it's at the end of April. There is a yahoo group that has details/info: groups.yahoo.com/group/centralohiorpm/?yguid=223504506 It'd be a good chance to catch up, share some models, and have a brew or two... ;-) Brian

Sorry Bri, no go again this year. I just bought this house last year and it looked like an episode of Hoarders when I bought it. We're about halfway there to resurrecting it so the 'extra-curriculars' are cut back for the next while... Maybe the DT&I show? (no promise) I miss sittin', drinking at the restaurant while everyone takes shots at Jim Sinclair....

Eeeeee-gads! Looks like you'll be gutting that bath! I re-did my sisters bathroom last fall with my Dad, and it was a lot of work, but turned out pretty nice. Her townhouse was built in the late 40's, and when we took out the wall where the mdeicine cabinet was located, we found about 5ooo razor blades in the wall. Apparently, back in the day, when everyone used double edge blades, they put a little slot in the med cabinet for you to "dispose" your used blades into. So watch out for that if your place is that old (looks like it might be, based on the sea foam green paint).
Get some stuff done, so you have an excuse for a weekend away! Brian

don't get me started....the upper apartment (the house was divided into 3 units that I changed back to 1 'house' by reinstalling the stairs) had about a dozen needles hidden in places, turns out the tenant was a IV drug addict! And the old lady on the main floor (the owner who died) liked feeding the mice with strategically placed peanut butter....grrrrr! Changed the locks, bought a German Shepherd!
