Hi Bill,
I like the looks of the Valley Unit. I can just imagine it leading train JSA1 thru Solomans Gap for the run down to Laure Run and on to Wilkes-Barre,Coxton,Mehoopany, and Sayer.
Nothing like NE Railroading.

This project hits home for me. This unit is now D&H 7312. I have logged many miles on her. One day we stopped in downtown Albany and got a picture of her in front of the D&H building.

That is very cool! Isn't 7312 still painted in the lightning stripe theme? I know they have at least on engine that they never repainted.
In the Northeast, the LV and D&H are very storied and fondly remembered. One of the folks I work with has an uncle that was a brakeman on the D&H - they lived in Albany. I grew up in the valley and my brother had an apartment in the former LV headquarters. There is a storyteller named Mike Bednar, who worked the Valley and took lots of Super 8 film during the 70's. His work has been digitized and Mike narrates - he is quite a character. He is helping to keep those road names alive - D&H, Reading, LV, Northampton & Bath, Lehigh & Hudson - all interesting roads...
Thanks for posting!

I have the Blue Box of 7311. Some day I would like to do it as 7310, aka LV 323. That is my favorite because she can probably out pull some junk AC4400s. She loads up fast, so she gives a good kick.
When I do it, I'll need a MBE set of ditch lights and round pilot for the rear.
There was a story about which said 7312 was headed for rebuilding, and would come out painted for Completely Pathetic. 7303 can barely pull itself, and has not gotten overhauled since the early 1990s. I hear 08 is being rebuilt too. That one is very slippery.
I hope they just leave 10 and 06 alone!

I live near the Lehigh Valley and hope to some day listen to Mike Bednar at an event. I need to take in all I can before he's gone. His videos are funny and he's got quite an extensive photo and 8mm Super 8 collection as well. One of the other members here, Rudy Garbely has interviewed Mike for his books/research.
What is the "Dateline D&H" film you are talking about, Randy. I think I need to investigate!
thanks, -bill

Mike is a good friend of mine and a fantastic guy. Whenever I'm out near his house, I always stop by to say hi (sometimes unannounced). I stopped by with my girlfriend once and an hour later, my "quick stop to say hi" even had HER amused with all of Mike's great stories!

I'm sure I'll get around to ordering a copy - my wife laughs at me watching this old stuff! Thanks Randy.

Rudy, didn't notice you chimed in on this thread! I thought the museum had you off the internet - I haven't seen you post in a while! You must be getting spoiled with all the activity over as Strasburg. Railpace has had some pictures posted of the repaints. But you are probably so busy across the street you don't notice! I might try to get out there at the end of August. My dad loves it.
