Ok I got a question for all of you. I have a Athearn TFM SD70MAC that i want to remove the lettering and make it a KCS unit.. Now I want to save the grey body paint. I have started scraping the lettering off and it is working pretty well but very time consuming. The numbers and TFM flag on the cab side came off pretty easy but the hood (with the big lettering) is a little tough as it is in between the hood doors. I was thinking of using 90% rubbing alcohal and a q-tip and lightly rub the lettering.. What do you all think, and do you have any other ideas or am I on the right path?

The alcohol will work but go slowly or you will take off the underlying paint. Also I have heard that Comet works, but I ave never tried it. Somebod makes a product for this but I can't recall the name.

For my athearn units 91% Alcohol seems to be okay, just don't linger after the letter's gone, it will begin to take paint.
