I just got in a Stewart Rs3 shell and I am undecided what to do with. I can either put the shell together and put on an atlas drive or I can turn it into an rs3 rebuild by adding a geep hood like an MKT or Rock Island rs3m. What do you guys think?

Seeing that it's in sections I would model a DeWitt Geep or the D.& H. RS3u not forgetting that MoPac -Missouri Pacific- had a fleet of RS3's that were rebuilt as GP12'S and GP16's. Me, personally I would model either the DeWitt Geep or the D.&H. RS3u, D.&H. RR's M-K TE56s further info RS3m - RS3m - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I vote for a DeWitt Geep as well. Then you could use the great Tsunami EMD sound in it and confuse novices at the club.

THanks for your advice everyone! :)Even though I still haven't decided on what kind of RS3 variant I am going to build, I have started modifying the atlas frame and stewart RS3 shell to fit. I will post info and pics on a separate thread once I have gotten far enough ahead.

I have a couple of these kits. Since my freelance line was owned by PC, I was going to do DeWitt rebuilds. One will have the stock hood, with new stacks and geep style 36" fans. For tbe other, I have a plastic raised hood kit, manufacturer long forgotten.

Forget the EMD repower nonsense. Do like the CNW did with their wrecked units. Three got sent back to Alco, with one too far gone to save so it served as a trade in for their only RS-36. The other two were rebuilt with RS-36 style long hoods and fuel tanks, keeping the RS-3 short hood, cab, frame and walkways. The also stayed long hood forward as well!
I'm also a bit partial to the chopped nose conversions of the GBW and D&H.
