This is my latest creation, the Southern F-3 6706. It was built using a Highliner shell, windows and screens. It is powered by a Kato/Stewart chassis. Details include a custom built fuel tank, roof mounted air tanks and ATS shoe. The Green paint is from ScalecoatII and the Imitation aluminum is a custom mix of Floquil colors. The model was decaled using Microscale and ShellScale decals. Enjoy!! Bob

Mr. Harpe, that is a fine looking F3. The Southern green and imitation aluminum is a class scheme. Have you built any Southern E8's and FP7's in the green?

William, I have built several Southern E-8's using the P2K and BLI models, but not any FP-7's. I know that the FP-7 conversion kit is available, but I haven't tried to use one yet and I haven't talked to anyone that has either. Most all of my Southern models are in the Black and Imitation Aluminum Tuxedo scheme since I model a later time era, but it's nice to take time to paint a green one ever so often. The 6707 was built for a real good friend.

Mr. Harpe, I would like to see one of your E8's. Which era do you model? I've finally settled on Southern in the Carolina's and Virgina 1976-1979.

William, all of my E-8's are long gone, either sold or given away. My modeling era is pretty specific as I have selected January 01, 1980 as the time frame in which to model and I do my best to model only units that were on the Southern roster on that date. HOWEVER, I have fudged a time or two and modeled a few SD-24's to run on our layout even though the 24's were gone by that time.

OK, here's the 6706 one more time with just a touch of weathering. The old gal is now ready to make her trip home to Knoxville, Tn. and her new owner.

Man, that is NICE!! I just love that paint scheme and what a great choice for the Feb logo. I've got a Southern F7A-B BLI set I need to get to one day. BTW Bob, I'm building a Wrightrack Southern Bay Window caboose and am having a real difficult time finding the red lenses to go in the roof-end mounted lights. If I may ask, which did you use?

Unfortunately, Bob doesn't mention what lens (part #) he used, it's just suddenly on the model. lol
