This was a quick job. While a die hard NS/Sou/NW guy, I have always had a soft spot for Chessie's vibrant colors. Anyway, stock Athearn paint with several extra details added (including the replacement of the stock plastic plow) and some mild weathering. Attachments:

Hi, Nice model - I really like Chessie SD50's.
I'd say the weathering looks good, but for the amount on the sides, the pilots/plow don't have enough road grime on them. I'd add a bit more darker (rail brown) weathering on the pilot faces/plow, and maybe rust the couplers a bit. Then it'll look perfect!
Good Job!

Agree 100%. It's funny how a photo brings out areas that need some work. I guess it's one of those things that I didn't catch but hey, that's why I posted to get others opinions. Thanks again

Also add some windshield wipers to that thing. I dont know why but it just doesnt look complete without them, heck maybe even sanding lines on the trucks too.
Check out a couple of proto photos for weathering ideas to finish dressing it up but otherwise it looks good..

Does the Athearn Chessie SD50 have walkway tread? Also, What snowplow did you use?

I think it's a Details West 206. As far as the tread plate, I do not believe it has any on it. I will look at it tomorrow and give you a definite answer.
