Nice weathering! Loco looks great. Could you make a list of all the modifications you've made? Looks extensive but I bet it would be helpful for others trying their hand at a beautiful dash 9 build like yours. ; )

No problem Richard. Here is what I did.
This started as a stock Kato NS -9. It's was torn down and stripped. While there are some things that aren't 100% percent correct (like the addition of a rear anti-climber.....which requires another shell just for that, unless you are good with styrene), it captures the overall feel. Here is what was added
Details West: - MU hose "3 cluster" set (MU 266) - MU cable "Double ended receptacle" (MU 236) - Spare knuckle bracket (196) - Air horn (343) - Sinclair antenna "long" (274) - Sinclair antenna "short" (275) - Ditch lights w/ platforms (243)
Rail flyer: - GE cut / lift bars (I have looked everywhere and they are the only company that makes them. Call before you order though and ensure they are in stock)
Scale coat II paint: - Engine Black - Gloss coat - Flat coat
Shellscale decals: - NS widecab "horse head". This company is not widely known outside of NS/NW/Sou modelers because that's all Mr. Shell makes, and they are spot on. He does alot of research on these roads (NW, NS, Sou) and produces very accurate decals.
The weathering was a combination of thinned Floquil paint (rail brown, dust, mud) and A.I.M powders.
The research was from various websites like NSDash9.com, NSlocos.com, RRpicturearchives.net (I use this regularly as there are many roof top photos). Just find one you like and let it roll. Just remember that's NS has had slight changes with each order (# of antennas, location of antennas, type of antennas. Some had GPS domes, some were removed, etc.)
Let me know if you have any other questions. Im glad to help with whatever I can

And I forgot to mention moving the headlight in-between the numberboards and patching the nose headlight. Since the early Kato -9s had pilot face ditch lights, theses were cut off and filled in. I know I'm missing one or two more things but overall, it's not as bad as you may think. This is actually the 4th one I have done, and like anything else, this is better than the first.

Well, I'm not an NS modeler but I have to say that you're right about your loco capturing the feel of an NS dash 9. Looks great man!
