Hi This is a follow up from my thread in another section on this forum. Thought it should really go here. Did some rework to improve some things I wasn't happy with. I will get her painted and decalled in the next couple of weeks Cheers Steve

Hi Guys Here's an update: Basic paint and decals, but still have lots of details to add after I seal the paint work so far. Had a mishap with the fuel tank so had to strip it down. While doing some last minute research on the paint scheme, I noticed the similarity to the Delaware-Lackawanna scheme. I guess it's appropriate that an all Alco RR would use an Alco inspired paint scheme. Speaking of painting. I painted this with my new airbrush, just arrived a week or so before Christmas. My oldest son arrived on Christmas Eve with, yes, another airbrush, actually better than the one I bought! Picture this, left hand, right hand, left hand, right hand! LOL. Cheers and have a safe and prosperous New Year. Steve

Hi Anthony I had a few doubts too! Maybe that's why it's taken 2 years to get this far. Cheers Steve

Tom, what's an EMD? Just kidding. At present the only EMD's on the horizon are an SW-1500 for the M&E and an RRPX SSB-1200.
My passion (obsession) is Alco and MLW locos. I have several more centuries in the planning stages, plus a couple of RS-11's awaiting some custom decals.
Thanks for all the positive feedback. Just off to do some painting on the SSB-1200. My EMD's don't get quite the same degree of work as my Alcos. The SSB is being painted with my M&E C-430, just to test the colours and some new masking tape. I haven't changed the louvres on the hood to match the former Santa Fe SSB (SW-1200), but it's looking good so far. May post a photo later with an update of my C-430. Cheers Steve

That was a long time ago!!! I'm trying to complete some of my long standing projects, and this is the next in line. This is how my C-636P looked about a month after the previous photo. I should be able to post the completed model soon, hopefully not another 3 years. At that rate I'll be 120 by the time I complete everything that's on my bench. I've also included the plan I drew based on actual Alco diagrams of the C-636P. Cheers Steve NZ

How did you know I was thinking about your model last night? Actually would consider doing a train GIF if I could figure out how to do the Santa Fe's Warbonnet scheme on it... really a shame that they didn't follow through with a purchase, I would bet they would have been some beautiful locomotives!!! Once again, great work!!!

Thanks Jerry. Maybe it was your thinking that made me get it our for more work. Thought processes can be powerful things. PM me if you would like some of my plan images. I suspect the Warbonnet would closely follow the layout of the PA's. It would be cool to see. Have you seen the SP version on an oil painting? It looks nice, but the locomotive in the oil painting isn't correct, at least, not according to how I read the plans. Cheers Steve

Hi I've put some more finishing touches to the 636P, not as detailed as some of my other Alco's, but it's close enough. I'll post some more photos in the "Finished" thread. Cheers Steve

Too bad Alco couldn't hold on for a few more years. Amtrak might have gotten these instead of the SDP40F. Nice job!
It might be fun to try to come up with a modern 1970-80 era MLW equivalent to the EMD F40, beside the LRC. It could be a marriage between a HR Draper unit, and a C430.

Couldn't you just imagine a pair of these demonstrating???

That's awesome Jerry. One of them by itself would have been a very big unit in 1967, so a pair of the beasts would be stunning. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Steve NZ
