Hi The C-430 is still in the same condition. I am looking into some decal options, but the reality is there are no M&E decals out there in N-scale. I have drawn the artwork in MS-PowerPoint, but that wasn't a useful format for any of the custom decal makers. Cheers Steve Why don't you talk to Paul at Prime Mover and see if he can just scale his HO ones down?

Hi Rudy I talked with Paul a while ago, and he was prepared to do that, but he was concerned about the workability of the decals if just reduced in size from the HO version. I also, for memory, had to order a sizeable run to make it worth his while. I've done the artwork for them, but not in a format that can be applied to an ALPS printer.
Thanks for thinking of me. Cheers Steve

Would this technique work similarly in HO scale but instead using a Stewart C-630 shell and then using an equivalent Atlas Dash-7 series frame and motor? Also, did the demonstrator C-430s come with a non-lowered air intake as you had described with the former NYC units?
I just received a pair of TYCO units and only came across this article today.

Hi Looks like your question has been well answered. The missing piece was to do with the Alco demo units that went to the L&N. They had the standard central air intake box, the only ones built with the lower profile box were the 10 for NYC. These later ended up on PC, then Conrail and later M&E, NYS&W and WNY&P.
Although only 16 were built, there are still 5 survivors, 4 ex-NYC units on the WNY&P and the ex-GB&W 315 in the rail museum in Green Bay. Three others survived Conrail, but were scrapped by the NYS&W. Cheers Steve NZ

Cheers Steve Hi Steve, I have been working on a pair of the C430s, and got stalled by the sideframes...that is until I found these. Check out this link and see if it helps you. I have 2 sets arriving next week. www.shapeways.com/product/KQGCXH6AB/n-scale-alco-hi-ad-trucks?li=search-results-1&optionId=57299713 Take care, Andy

Hi Andy I had seen these, but not attached to a set of trucks. They look good, so really I should give them a go. Let me know what they're like once you have them fitted. Thanks Steve NZ
