Sitting here on my couch looking at a list of railroads of Arizona on wikipedia i came across a list of proposed and "paper" railroads that for some reason or another were never built. One that caught my attention was the Prescott & Phoenix Short line. Apparently the line was surveyed in 1910-15 by the Southern Pacific. With a little imagination one could conceive that the line was built and merged into the massive SP empire, they already had numerous branch lines in southern Arizona, why not have one tapping into the northern part of the state? Hmmmm.... I think I might try and work with this

Since Prescott used to be a Santa Fe town you could have an interchange there for some added operations. Maybe have one RR bring in a commodity & the other ships the end product out.

Yeah, I like the idea of that, plus in the 60's the Santa Fe realigned it's trackage on the peavine line and Prescott was no longer connected rail. This would give the railroad another reason for it's existence.

I've got to admit Brian, it was reading all your posts and visiting your website about your Copper State Railway that spurred me into action. As a fellow Arizonan I think it's great seeing someone else whose modeling reflects what is actually going on here in the state!

How many different colors are you using? What colors are you using? Not to bad and it looks pretty simple but not sure about the extra color on the nose onlyand rear end. Just doesnt fit to well..

I was trying to base the color scheme off the one used on the Copper Basin Ry. The front is supposed to be copper and the blue reminiscent of the blue found on the AZ state flag. However since posting this I've had a change of mind and decided that "my" railroad would be the first short line purchased by the Park-Sierra Group. Which means the engines will be painted like those found on the Arizona & California and California Northern. An added bonus of this is that Athearn already had ready to run models painted for them!
