Hey guys, I'm adding a few SD7's to my freelance roster. I've owed a P2K SD9 before and it is pretty nice as far as detail and over all looks go. For those of you that have owned the Broadway versions of these locomotives, how do they measure up with regard to the detail and over all looks? Is it better to just stick with the P2K units?

I can't speak for the Broadway SD 7/9 but I picked up a NS SD 40-2 and an NS C30-7 not long ago and they will be the only Broadway's on my roster.

No, not really. They (at least these two) were a pain in the butt to pull apart to detail (like most people on here, stock details are not sufficient) and I don't just don't think the run very well. I will say that I have heard good things about the Paragon (I think that's their high end stuff) but I am so displeased with there regular line that I'm not sure I want to take the chance and buy one.

P2K SD's can be had for good prices on Evilbay anyways so I might just stick with them.

Yeah, I can't say anything bad about the P2K stuff. Since my father models the 40s-70s and I model for then to now, we have a pretty good sampling of most of their stuff. They run well, look good and most of them can pull the couplers off the cars on the head end of a train because they are so heavy

I hear ya. The P2K SD45 is a freakin tank! It has the best SD45 shell out there too. I just picked a new P2K SD45 for $42.00 shipped on evilbay the other day. Great score!

I actually do have a Broadway Blueline SD9. Like ladderpipe says, that's the only one I'll bring in to my collection, and here's why; 1. agreed, they are difficult to take apart to detail 2. the paint must have CA in it because it is harder than a Kato to strip 3. the poor running quality comes from the cheapo sound decoder that you have to add a motion decoder to. Turn off the sound and it runs pretty nice. I will replace the decoder in mine soon and then detail, but won't repeat this process.
