Randy, Like I said - mount some .019" wire onto the tubing - have the 2 wires about 1/8" apart from each other. Make them "extra long - probably around 1"+. (pre-drill the hole in the end of the tube for the chain) Drill a couple holes in the frame, near the top of the frame member, also about 1/8" apart from each other. Insert the wires you soldered to the tube, into the holes in the frame and then twist the tube into the desired position. The wires should bend/conform to the position you set. When you achieve the desired positioning - glue them in place on the frame. Add the chain using the small stranded wire. It's so small, it will pretty much dissappear once you are done. Just do the setup for the chain, and wait to do the final install after it's painted/decaled/decoder installed/weathered, and you no longer desire to take it apart for any reason. My C-425 isn't any different then your C430, and this is how I did it.... The tube is attached to the frame, and not the shell. It does require careful handling when you go to paint it, since this detail will be out in the open, and easily damaged. I broke my tube because the first one I made was styrene. The second one was brass.... Brian

If you want updated trucks, go for the spares from the C420 - truck side frames and brake cylinders - they are a tiny bit better in detail :-)

Agreed, the C420 truck sideframes are Atlas' best yet. Plus they'll fit every Atlas Alco and GE from the Atlas/Kato RS3 forward.

I did order some of the newer sideframes and details from Atlas, but I have decided that I will not go back and re-do the sideframes on this model, it has already had the speed recorders added, and the model has been weathered too.
Not worth screwing something on it up just for the minor upgrade in the truch details.
