If it says Santa Fe, Its more than likely mine. Majority of my motive power for mainline trains at the club. The only set not in that category in this photo is the pair of GP7's which operate in Local service. The A-B-A set of F's are P1K F3's. Still need to weather those guys up! Other end of the Facility. The trio of GE's in the center of the Photo belong to the intermodel service part of my fleet. The row of GE's on this end is for locals.I need to break up their order somewhat though. The U25B is a brass Alco Models unit. The older Athearn Blueboxs in the back are my helpers. And a small home layout fleet shot from a few months ago. Gee that SW looks familiar...... Need to get an updated shot of the fleet at home right now.

Thats what i grew up seeing * Yeah, me too.... as a kid, I would ride my bike down to San Berdoo Yard, and see all that blue & yellow. If I was good, my dad's friend drove me down to Colton Yard, and saw EPIC action there!! Ahhh, to be 14 again!

Well, im furloughed at the moment, but otherwise thats where i am! I can remember when my dad drove me to the horrible runaway train derailment in berdoo with that SP train. Still can clearly see the carnage in my head :/

All because the customer "rounded" the figures for their coal loads!!! TOO much weight, not enough power/braking, Cajon Pass.... Recipe for disaster. Add a happy memory - when my friend would take me to the Colton Diamond... Occasionally, his friend would let us IN Colton Tower!!!! Imagine how THRILLED this kid was!!

I used to go to the double diamond too. its not a double anymore though since they added the flyover though. And yeah, the tower has quite a view of the yard if you were able to go into the yardmasters room (3rd floor). im up there all the time. Just recently took my dad for a fun little tour of the yard. There happened to be the Miss Katy and SP heritage units there at that time. So that was a cool bonus!

Back then, it wasn't such a Federal crime to RESPECTFULLY go on Railroad property.... Sure, I got chased out of a few areas, but times were different, before Lawyers took over the country. :/

Ahh good old Colton yard. Loved that place as a kid. Never went in but the Pepper Ave bridge was a great place to see some action. That was the best days of old SP when SD39's, SD35's, SD38-2's & Cadillacs roamed free in that place. My dad worked near Colton so he got me the first shots of the new GP60's with speed lettering. It was a little refreshing to see but you know it's those extremely burnt and never washed units that were the best of all lol. My other most favorite place was Santa Fe's Shops in San Bernardino. What an epic, huge, and old place. Breaks my heart to see it gone.

San Berdoo Shops are GONE!! It's been quite a long time since I lived around there, but that place was always BUSY. ..... I guess it didn't fit into BNSF's "business model"! Sad.

Gone sadly. The place that gave new life to so many locomotives like Santa Fe SD24 into SD26's wiped away with only the boiler stack remaining. So much history is now history lol.

..... There's Stack Yards everywhere.
The Shops there, and GRIP up in Sacramento, used to give a second life, with a LOT of rebuilds!
