Going to be an interesting build. 2 of the oddest and oldest (yes they did outlast the WM F7's by a LONG shot) EMD F7B's that lasted in mainline service, C&O 8501 and 8504. I had found 2 Athearn Bluebox at the local hobby shop and have already begun the task of stripping off the C&O passenger scheme. Here is what they look like currently: I am stripping them using 71% Alcohol that you can get from your local pharmacy. Some modifications are going to be done to the roof, doors, and other openings and when completed they will look similar to this:

What were they used for? Prime mover haulage???

Yes. They were used primarily on the Pittsburgh Division is my understanding although there were a few instances where the 8501 did go to West Virginia and KY.

So over the past few days I got to cutting the fans off the top of the hood with my handy dandy Dremel tool. The first one I butchered, but I guess that comes with learning, and the 2nd I don't think I did too bad on. They are now in for paint.
