This unit began life as Carolina and North Western no. 11. The Southern absorbed this shortline and it became Southern no. 11. The Southern traded the unit in on newer models and it was later purchased by Chicago and North Western as their no 11. The model you see is an Atlas model with several details added on. It also has new air reservoirs, a new tank and the upper radiator grill was opened and replaced with a DW brass screen.

Bob, truly impressive, almost makes me want to model the Southern, how can I work a Southern engine into a Katy freight, I wonder if the Katy & Southern had a run through agreement?
