Alrighty, first question: the air intake grill direcly behind the cab on each side, which cannon part is that? Second: the unit I am building it off of is a NKP unit W/O DB, which cannon fan is correct for the DB fan? third: Does anyone make a modern style coupler cut bar like the found here? www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=134161&nseq=85And, finally, do the 39E's have dash 2 or straight 35/40 type cabs? TIA, Christian

You'll need a roof shot of the unit you're modeling, those GP39's are mix & match on fans.
The inertial filter screens, use 1303, modify the engineer's side to get that nifty angle. The radiator grill, use 1403 modified to fit.
The coupler lever, use Detail Associates 2211 or 2212.
Lastly, its a 35 line cab, look close at the roof edge at the rear of the cab, the Dash 2 line extends beyond the rear.

I was thinking of just using whatever matches the stock P2K DB fan. Also, do these units have ditch lights on the back? christian

Some (I think most) are bi-directional so they would have ditch lights both ways.

Well, the more I look at the pictures, the more I realize this is going to be quite a long process! I have come up with a few more questions. in this pic www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=64603&nseq=134 , you can clearly see an access door behind the engineer, anyone know the correct cannon part for this? I see that the middle radiator fan was removed and the hole filled. I don't wany to go to the efforf filling it in, but was thinking of doing a "patch" with some sort of brass sheet, any idea where I could find something like that? And, which cannon blower housing is correct? TIA, Christian

One otehr point that a lot of people do not know about because it is a roof detail. Actually two roof details and they are in teh dynamic brake recess.
From my research, all GP30's have a plate under the DB fan. Plano offers this part, but am not sure if he has put it out yet. You can simulate this with a piece of 0.010" styrene. The plate starts at teh front of the recess and goes to where the DB blister starts to taper down.
The next detail is a 1.5" angle iron welded to the top front of the recess. It is welded to the inside of the recess from side to side and the top is flush with the top of the hood. Natuarally the angle is facing back. You cannot see it in roof shot shotos because it looks like part of the hood top. You can only see it if you are standing ontop of the locomotive looking at it.
I can't imagine BN went to any effort to take this out when rebuilding the GP30's.

The unit I'm modeling, has a great roof shot on Locophotos: www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=10145You can see that the hatch is actually level with the roof line, causing the roof to have to be slightly lower. I noticed this after I had built mine, so I've left it as is.
