I started a BN GP39E today, and am about ready to get the cab, nose, and other stuff. My question is, which cannon cab do I need if I am doing one of the chop nose former Southern units?

Should be an 88" nose, that's what I used on mine, and it looks correct.

If it's an Ex sou high hood then it's a 81'' nose as all high hoods were 81'' after 88'' became standard

If it's an Ex sou high hood then it's a 81'' nose as all high hoods were 81'' after 88'' became standard The GP39E's were completed after the switch to 88" so when they got new cabs (those of them that did) they got 88" noses. At least that's what the photos seem to indicate to me. |
