I have an old "Jouef" HO scale Amtrak turbo that I plan to rebuild sometime in the near future. This will be a total revamp, seeing that the model as built, although well proportioned, and pretty much correct for a french service unit, is total crap. ( picks up current from only two axles, feeding a pathetic little open-frame motor ). The drawbars provide about a scale six foot gap between cars, and the factory paint job is just plain lousey...... So, while I try to plan this out, has anyone here ever done any work on these "Gems-in-the-rough" So far, I plan on adding electrical pickups on at least four more axles ( will need to run jumpers to the second car ). also, need to come up with a good replacement motor. As for the bodywork, it needs to be "Americanized", with the prototypical modifications. Since the turbo has such large windows, interior detailing will be a must as well. I don't know how to link up photos here, but check any of the Amtrak photo sites to see what I am referring to. (RTG Turbos). (Not the RTL, or UA turbos) So folks, any ideas are welcome! Thanks, Todd
