This started out as an Atlas B40-8 that I picked up from a train show for 50 bucks. I chose to model BNSF #8625, one of only two B40-8's left in the warbonnet scheme. Prototype shots can be found here: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1162625www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1495356www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1994285Here is the finished model on a neutral background: Side by side with a stock unit (mine didn't come with a plow though) Front end close-ups: What was done: -moved light to nose, cab roof details added, moved horn, replaced exhaust stack plate with custom etched brass -details on pilots, ditch lights, A-line etched steps -air tanks with DW kit, heavily modified to match proto -TCS A4X with LEDs all around -airbrush fade, initial weathering on doors, roof, grills -decals placed and second layer of weathering on cab, etc -3rd layer of weathering on underframe and pilots.

Wow! That's some amazing weathering! I love the burn marks on the long hood. I tip my hat to you sir! -Trevor

It is sad to see a Santa Fe locomotive in that condition. However the weathering is fantastic! What did you use to fade the paint?

The burnt paint draws the eye in and the rest of the details and weathering is worth several looks also. Very well done.

Outstandingly good! I love the variation in the different types of weathering, like the exhaust stains and the degradation from rust.
Brilliant!

Nice work! I really like the rust effects. My dash 9s will receive the same treatment soon, as well as my tunnel motors. Keep up the great work!

She's amazing! I just keep coming back to this post over and over because of that amazing transformation! As soon as I can find one of these I'd certainly try to model it, too. (Though I can guarentee mine won't look half as great as yours)
Can I ask how you made that little housing around the headlight?

It looks really good. The rust looks right for them. They were rough riding. If the hostler set it to lead, we would see if we had a good leader on the other end. Then we'd see if the yardmaster would route us , so the power would end up turned.
