Thank you for the compliments everyone.
I am just about done with it. The trucks and fuel tank could use an adjustment to the weathering. Otherwise I am happy with it. This is the first time I made my own decals and that turned out to be a bit of a learning experience. They are not 100% accurate but close enough for a shell that is based off old RPP tooling.

really nice! did you change anything on the drive system? Still the old RTR motor?

really nice! did you change anything on the drive system? Still the old RTR motor? No, that RTR motor had to go. It was bad, very very noisy. The motor was replaced with Kato motor that came from a GP35. It was a drop in fit. It now runs every bit as nice as a loco with a full Kato drive.

Ah, great! I put in a Genesis motor on mine and just recently swapped the trucks for Genesis F7 trucks as well ... I hated the scratching noises when the backside of the wheels scratch on the metal plates of those RTR trucks.
