Hello, I have an undecorated Genesis SD70ACe which I have yet to assemble but it has the same black portions of the shell as yours when I am done. Can you tell me how you painted the underframe components and what steps to take if possible? Thanks

Shane, Since this model was already assembled ,what I had did what primer it,then tape of the sections I didn't want to be black,an spray painted what I wanted to be black. Then I had went back over the areas with an paint brush an added black on to parts I missed. I hope this helps ya out. May I ask what road are you doing? -Damian

Hi Damian, thanks for the advice, since the black on your model is identical to what I had planned your pictures are going to be huge benefit to me. You did an amazing job. The interesting thing of it is, is I am using the KCS version SD70ACe for my model. The railroad I am painting it in is my personal railroad the New York Albany & Susquehanna. The grey areas on the KCS engine will be dark blue and yellow chevrons on the ends again just like the KCS engine. I will be adding a white cab roof too. As soon as college finals are done here in 2 weeks I will have some time to begin. Again thanks for your help and have a great day!

Damian, Can't wait to see photos of the loco with the nose stripes and KCS lettering. I had asked Athearn to do a run of them...
