Yesterday I obtained a mint condition Ambroid 70' BAR pulpwood car kit. Never opened and the wood is in beautiful condition. I am going to modernize the car to match pictures taken last year in Maine. Now a few questions? What is the best glue to build one of these? There will be alot of new styrene parts to modernize this car. Will super glue work? Secondly how do I paint one of these cars? Do I have to seal the wood first so the paint isn't absorbed? Thank you gentleman for any help you may be able to provide.

For wood craft kits, I use yellow carpenter's glue (Titebond, Elmers, etc.), and to get a good finish, I use a sanding sealer, applied in several coats and sanding between each application. To attach metal or styrene parts, I use quick-set epoxy and plenty of clamps to get a secure joint. For attaching large pieces of sheet styrene. I drill several shallow "anchor" holes to help strengthen the bond.
