Dave its best to start with a good set of reference material that would include a specific time frame only because features change at a pace that would have you building a Cadillac link in the Johnny Cash song :} For me I have 2 favorite RR's the Milw and N&W the Milw stuff would be 1955 ish and the N&W stuff would be the late 70's.

I find I like more modern railroads but as I've been evolving I enjoy the older classic rails as well. I like NS since they run right here but I also want to learn more about the railroads in the Youngstown OH valley since I grew up there and there was a lot of industry to model there in the years passed. Haselton Yards in Youngstown is where I used to spend hours on end at work. Ohio Central does a lot of the industrial work there now.

Randy, Where is/was Haselton Yards located? My grandfather work on P&LE many many years ago in the Youngstown area. I plan to do mor e research on the whole area's railroads history as I know so little. Do you still work there? I recalled seeing they are running a lot of land fill out of the Youngstown area to the strip mines in outer laying areas. There was a markings on the engines IBCX. I don't know but I think it could be Youngstown & Southeastern Railroad. I got a lot of photos of them running the scrap out to Boardman and a few of some more engines parked where they were servicing them.

It's across where the scrapyard was off Indianola Avenue. No, I'm retired now. Just south of there in Lottville is where the woman lives in the restored depot.
