In keeping with the Cheap Build for Fun theme. I picked up several complete Atlas GP-38 high hood shells with all the parts for 10 bucks a piece a couple years ago. All they needed was a drive. I had a few Athearn GP40-2 drives in the parts box that I got at a flea market for 5 bucks a piece. I cut out the areas on the Atlas walkway that hung up on the Athearn frames and used the coupler mounts to body mount the frame by adding plastic to the Atlas pilot area then drilling and tapping for a 2-56 screw mount. With some fine tuning to the drives they run pretty good. Here's what they look like. Total cost so far with some detail? 25 bucks a unit. Now that's cheap build today!

Oh, I have projects I've spent way too much money on also Mike, but it seems that these cheap builds are the most fun.
