I reworked this truck I had a while and didn't like much: beside some little paint jobs I replaced mirrors and windshield wipers with photo etched parts. The steel pipes once have been Q-Tips! I don't throw them straight into waste, I keep them in a box once they are used and when chopping off the ends plus some color and powders they have a second life p.s. Randy, this time without the "URL" thing

That's some fine work there Denis!! What did you cut the Q-tips with to make the pipes look like they have been cut and have a jagged edge?

I first cut them off using a diagonal cutting pliers, but it didn't get me this effect. I then just took my Dremel (http://www.dremel.com/) and a small saw blade and cut them off, this gave them the perfect jagged edge.
They then got all glued together with ACC and painted black. A dry brush with the color called "gun metal" to give them the steel appearance. But as those wouldn't be polished steel barrels like on a gun I used rust powders in addition to get the finish + matte varnish of course.
I think I will have to rework the load and the flat bed, the drivers cab needs a protection and the load to be tied down.
but I'm not sure ... I could pretty well imagine that back in 1976 some loads might have been carried in such "unsafe" manner for short distance?

Wow, Very impressive Denis! I like the weathering on the tires as well all the way around! Very nice It looks like it ran through some poop on that left front! What did you use for that effect? And yes, I would imagine in those times and before that for a short distance some body might not have secured a small load.

Very nice! It looks like it needs a new kingpin on the drivers side axle though.

@ David: What exactly you are looking for? the fenders? I don't know exactly which effect your talking, that's why I can't point it out more detailed ... hehe @ Randy: It's always a bit tricky to have the front wheels appearing correctly when replacing the axis with wire to have them look like the vehicle is turning. But see it positive: It'll give much of a reason to have a truck repair somewhere on the layout

Still very nice, I didn't mean anything by the kingpin just having fun.

Still very nice, I didn't mean anything by the kingpin just having fun. But you are absolutely right! The fun thing is that in most cases you wouldn't recognize anything not looking correctly until you watch at pictures you took
