I know DW has their plastic brackets for 2/3 axle trucks, but I wanted something more rugged. After some thinking, I decided to use DA #2222 long-shank eyebolts as brackets for the sand lines. I used Miniatronics 30-gauge wire for the hoses.

Way to think it through! Can we get some side shots?

Thats a fabulous idea. I too feel the plastic ones are a little fragile. i have seen somewhere in a picture on the DW site that they have at some point been avaiable in brass. not sure if this pic is just prototype picture or if they actually offered them www.detailswest.com/gp60%20model%20info.htmDan

Even if they did make them in brass I doubt I'd use them anymore-the wire/bracket "interface" is a pain in the ass. I like the eyebolts because I can strip the insulation and add a dab of superglue and be done with it, and the eyebolts are somewhat adjustable after being installed in the sideframe.
I also heard from one Flickr contact that he actually used Athearn stanchions, which might actually be a more prototypical profile than my method. I might have to give that a shot one day.

The brackets from Details West are now made of white metal.

THAT is a great way to model sanding details! if the DW white metal are like the mu hoses they are very fragile and not at all durable
