Hi All, Another recent project I've been working on is a CN C40-8, to be numbered for 2114. I started with an undec unit, and painted the black, then red, and then white. Unfortunately, I had some issues with paint peeling, so I'm going to have to go back and touch it up - all three colours! I'm a little puzzled, because I took it straight from the box to the paint booth - perhaps there was some residue on it from the factory? After the paint is fixed, it's just decals and assembly - very few modifications needed. Of course, the same week I started this one, Atlas announced a factory-painted version! Maybe I can still beat them to the punch and finish mine first... Anyway, here is a photo of my progress so far. Cheers, Peter.

Very nicely done, is this one of the units with the special 15 years or whatever decal? Or is this just going to be a plain jane CN unit?

Hi All, I thought I'd post an update on this one. I repainted the parts that had peeled paint, and changed the red to a more accurate CN red-orange. I'm in the middle of adding the detail parts, such as windshield wipers, handrails, snowplow, etc. While it has taken about two years to get this far, I still reached my goal of beating Atlas to the release of theirs! The real unit has since had the split cooling system modification, so I'm not sure if I am going to model this feature (not quite sure how, either). My goal is to model this one as-painted, so just a little weathering. Here's a photo of the model, and the real one not long after it was released from shop. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Peter.
