This NS 80MAC was built with the Kato model. It was by my standards a "Quick Build" I saw on this forum earlier someone was speaking of building a NS 80MAC. I was originally going to paint it in CR colors with the NS patch, But I decided that CR would be to common. Kato did produce a NS painted MAC, But after I saw one. I was not satisfied with the placement of the lettering. I had picked mine up as a undec when they first came out and it sat in the box until I got the hair up my rear end to mess with it. Several parts were replaced such as Grab irons, Step Guard (left side) and wipers along with other cast parts that are just too big. The exhaust stack was drilled out and I used 0.010" brass wire to replace the cast exhaust. I used the Kato radiator fans as I found them to be exceptable for molded parts. I did add the electrical conduit pipes with 0.060" brass wire. A few other parts that were tossed a side was the lift bars and they were also replaced with hand made cut levers by again using 0.010" brass wire. A Line wipers and steps were used which I use on everything. One question that was stated by another member was the plow used on the 80MACs. I went a head and used the Kato plow, But trimmed the bottom edges out to simulate the CR style plows. Painting and decaling was done by referring to prototype photos of the NS 7204 so that I could gain exact placement.
Again, these are not the best photos as I now use natural light out side for photographing.
