Depending on how much kitbashing and modification you want to do I think the RailPower SD90 shell can work for an 80 as well. Though by the time you get just the shell, frame, trucks, and drive you've probably already spent what a Kato costs.

ITS KATO OR RPP you have to slightly modify the sd 90 shell at the back on the sand box cut it down and fill in the gap

There are some differences in the cab as well. I dont remember wich but one of them had low nu,berboards and one high. Along with that were some minor differences in grabirons and such.

You are right and the classification light on the cabs on the Conrail units so its sand box head lights and classification lights all easy fixes/I i have an older RPP sd 90 i may throw an H kit on her and and give her a D&RGW paint scheme!!

Ive got an old rpp shell too, but i dont know how to get a powered chassis under it for a reasonable cost. The OMI chassis costs just as much as a Kato, and if your spending that much why not just buy a Kato and start with that shell. I guess thats why its been sitting on my workbench for so long.
