With the Alco S3 Slug project giving me some issues, I set out to build another slug. While once again digging thru the junk boxes at the local hobby shop, I came across an old AHM GP7 painted like the SCL 1776 Bicentennial Unit. Its motor was already removed as well as its fuel tank, and it has some broken handrails that need to be replaced. Here she is tonight after being stripped of the base coats of paint and her cab patched with Plastruct .020" styrene to reflect her being turned into a slug. Paint and a final sanding is going to happen tomorrow, and when finally completed she will be paired with SH&W 4501 as Yard Power, and I am hoping to run a power connection from the slug to the mother just as a real mother/slug set.

Yea, unlike other slugs she will retain her radiator fans, and she just got 2 Hood mounted bells. Since she is also non-dynamic, she will fit well with my GP38-2 non-dynamic locomotive "mother" unit

Looks like a good idea!
I have a couple of these at home I was thinking of doing something with... Slug is an excellent idea! The power that you will jump from the mother will be a good thing, given those AHM truck pickups. I'll do mine as dummies for the club road (Empire Valley) just as an experiment.

This project is on hold. I just got word that I am moving to the Dayton, OH Area for a new job in the next few weeks.
