This isn't really a detail question, but I'm still a bit perplexed. I just received a brand-new A-B set, and the pilot/plow is loose. It is held in place only by the front coupler, and the front of the shell is loose. It looks like a relatively simple matter to glue the plow to the shell, and that would seem to hold everything together. If it is something that simple, I don't want to be bothered returning it.
I've sent an email to Athearn asking essentially this same question, but have not received a reply.
I would appreciate you experienced folks who have taken these things apart if that's all that has to be done. Also, what type of adhesive should I use to attach the pilot/plow to the shell?

Thanks, Fred. That confirms my suspicions.
Any thoughts on what adhesive I should use to put it back together?

Hmmmm. Sounds like my hot glue gun is out of the question.

I received a reply to my email inquiry to Athearn, and they said that I should either a) send it to their repair department in Long Beach, b) return it to where it was purchased, or c) fix it myself. I rally didn't learn much from all that. Those are pretty much the options I understood when I first contacted them. I will in fact repair it myself; I don't feel like paying the shipping to them or the store who sold it to me, and it would cost about $100 for gas to deliver it. I'm just trying to decide which adhesive to use. I think I'll take the 'Tenex' suggestion. Thanks, guys. I appreciate the help.

Okay, just to wrap this up....
Stopped at the train store yesterday and described the problem. The fellow who does most of the repairs for them said it wasn't a big deal, and a couple drops of CA would fix it just fine.
It did.
Thanks again to everyone for their opinion/advice.
