I recently got a life-like FPA-2 shell (I already had the running gear but it needed repairs It had a couple ladders broken and the top grill was popped out and glued poorly. I filed the grill hole out a bit and glued the grill back in. I filled any gaps with some body puttyand repainted the area with polly-s engine black (a dead ringer for the black already on the roof) I added a bit of weathering to it, not too much considering it's a passenger unit. I just sprayed a bit of grimer black on the pilot, trucks and fuel tank, then I sprayed poly-s dirt in a streaking motion up and down across the trucks and tank. I'm looking to add the extra side vents and steam gen vents next

Looks real good.
CN had four FPA-2s that were almost identical to FPA-4s. There were no additional vents under the rad intake like there are on the 4s.

If you want the extra passenger look, Custom Finishings has the proper large fuel/water tanks for the FPA2. I'm not sure what CN's units had, but the CP version had a single small square vent at the back for the steam generator. Here's my "souped up" CP version. Not perfect and it needs a bit more work, but a good stand-in type model.

Is the larger fuel/water tank a direct replacement of do you need to modify the chassis for it?

I think it comes in two halves that fit where the old one goes. Mine was scratchbuilt around the old tank, but I wouldn't go that route in the future.

There were no additional vents under the rad intake like there are on the 4s. Thanks for that bit of info. I was about to add the grills until you pointed it out.
I'm going to look into the new tank for the unit as well as the roof mounted bell from minitures by eric and the steam gen vents

Looks really nice
but missing some things, you could use the new fuel tank made by eric courtney.
the unit also need a generator hatch on the rear.

Sorry I've been out of the loop for a couple months. I do have the steam gen parts from Minitures by Eric. I just haven't added them yet.
