I have a Kato GP35 that I will (partially) detail to be a GP35u and 2 P2K GP60s I will add pilot details to. -all former ATSF factory paint.
I just want to add some hood details & the usual pilot details to these. I'll do frame/undersill details to the Kato later, But I love running these so I want to see if I can get one of these drilled out for parts, spot painted weathered and detailed by tomorrow night. The Kato paint is actually faded since it's a first run I got at a show for $50, that one should look good!

HA! Well, I started the GP35. That's all I got to. I had to go and run an errand. I got back and it was 8pm. I'll work on it tonight, but I'm behind a whole day and tomorrow is V-day, which means I'll be busy tending to my wife.

ya, that chic flic recommendation I made the other day... I'm paying for that in spades today. But, I do sneek off to do a bit here and there to the GP35 as my wife has her own business from home and has constant 20-30 minute interuptions. We're watching Twilight/Eclipse. (vampire chic flic)

I guess I shoulda moved this to on the bench... oh well. anyway I did do a lot of work on the GP35. I realized after I started working that one of the mods I need to do is to change the inertial filter hatch with what looks like from an SD40. I don't have that one at the moment... I also ran out of brake fans.
I did redo the turbo hatch, drilled out for pilot details and lift rings. I'll do the cab roof stuff once the filter hatch is done. -thanks for reading if you got this far! I don't do any online blogging or anything like that, this is the only place I really talk about detailing. I don't even use facebook for that.

That one will be very interesting. It's a late GP35 built in June of '65. Thats why it has the dust bin. They also have the later GP40 style fuel tank and no dip in the sill surrounding the fuel filler. It'll be a cool build Dan

Thanks for the info Mark. dang! I forgot to put in the dynamic brake hatch in the pic, I did the turbo hatch already and put in a fan base, but I don't have break fan shrouds, only rad shrouds... I will be fixing the sill, but as for the fuel tank that will be done when I do the frame in the future. I just wanted to do the body now since I knew it was minimal changes despite my previous thought about waiting until other projects were done. Actually I will do the nose headlight and this will go back on the layout as is until I get the rest of the parts.

Thanks Mark, and since the paint is faded on this unit, it might be easier to give the unit that patched look of varied weathering. I won't need to worry if the paint for the class light plates or anything else is close match. I did add the pilot details to the GP60s. I'm holding off on the ditch lights until I get a bunch of those tiny LEDs. I think that's all I'm gonna do on those for a while. In the future when I finish many of these other projects, I might do frame rail details, but seeing as how that takes me forever,... The GP35u I have to revisit. I think there's a better way to do the fuel tank without cutting that much out of the frame. Dan
