Guys currently working on this GP7 for the FWWR. Starting with a Proto 2000 GP7 for a starting point. Have gotten the walkways modified to match the prototype but have a question. On the Engineers side whats going on. This is the best photo I have of the area behind the cab. The panel above the walkway behind the cab? Is this a raised platform like the other side? Or the normal step? I'm questioning this because of the way the hand rails are done. This unit has been sold and now out of reach to me. Any ideas? Ive chopped the nose was going to fill the hole for the lift rings but noticed that they are still there. Also using a SD28 cab that was mentioned in a earlier post, forgot who mentioned it but make an easy cab for this project. Hopefully will get some good weather this weekend to get some pictures of the model.

I doubt that it has a raised platform, because the doors need to open to the main generator and rear of the electrical cabinet for maintenance purposes, and a platform would not allow that to happen.
Plus, if it was a raised platform, the handrail would be too low (unless the FWWR folks are like me....vertically challenged)!!
Also, looking at the notch cut in the bottom of the plate (to drain water away from the walkway), you can see a little light passing through the perforated step under the door.
I really think those responsible for making the modification just used a bit of "artistic welder's license" to make it look like the other side! ;D

Great pictrues, Chuck!! For those who are interested, you are looking at the lube oil cooler (angled box with large cooling water pipe from the radiators), lube oil filter tank (round thingy just below the cooler), underneath that ,the oil catch pan, and below that, the traction motor blower. The vertical tank to the right is the fuel oil heater, the round tank in the upper left corner is the water expansion tank and below that is the fuel pump motor. The pipe next to the fuel pump motor and connected to the water expansion tank is the return line for cooling water from the air compressor heads.

Looking good so far. What railroad is the FWWR? The Fort Worth & Western. It runs mostly on ex - Frisco, Santa Fe and Cotton Belt trackage.

Been side tracked working on the layout lately. Have decided to rip out old layout and creating new layout to more closely follow what is called the Everman Job. This is a small industrial area that the FWWR switch's and looks like i can model it fairly close. Will see.

Here we go...I deleted them from my Photobucket account not realizing at the time that I had posted them here! I took these in the summer of '95 in Dublin, TX.

This is a small industrial area that the FWWR switch's and looks like i can model it fairly close. Will see. Hope you keep us posted! I have long thought about modeling the 8th avenue area, north to White Settlement Road, south down to Cresson. That would take a lot compression, but I think it would be fairly easy. I am thinking about doing it circa 1976 using the story that my Trinity River & Western took over the Fort Worth Sub after the Frisco abandoned it in 1968. But, seeing you working on this and looking through my FWWR photos, maybe the FWWR might be the road to model. I don't know...there are so many roads I like! For now, I am staying busy building a small On30 layout. Less I need to make-up-my-mind-what-road-to-model crap!
