Here's the link to my scratched VICX 4814 8 axle tank car. I don't know if I did it right or not, as it's been a long time. The car is huge, weighing in at 526,000 LBS loaded. It's 91' long, and hauled 48,330 GALS of Vinyl Chloride. I used Bragdon powders to weather it. Let me know what you think.

Hmmm...looks like a one piece body for the tank, I've got to ask, what did you use? I really like all the detail work you do on the tanks, they look like they have everything the prototypes do. The scale wheels look good too!

Thanks Terry, Kevin. Kevin, I use 2 of the Walthers LPG bodies from the old kits. I splice them together for a total of 83', then wrap the body with .010 styrene after filling in all the holes and gaps.

Bobby,
These tank cars you build go way beyond cool. These things are show stoppers! Definitely some of the best modeling I have ever seen. It would be a real treat to see a full train of your models.

Thanks Brian. I'm going to photograph the cars at our train club with my three UP GEs.

-what Brian said...
also, where do you find the dimensions for these things. I looked up dimensions for the R660 for BNSF and found that right away. A bit of a longer search yielded nothing in the way of tank cars.

Thanks Dan. I was given plans for three of my railwhales, but you can find the dimentions on the CSX UMLER. Some of the plans were from model RR mags, such as the Bromine car, and the two dome car.
