Ok this project is a rescue rebuild, I did it a few years ago, but over time I ended up parting out the drive and a few minor details but I put the shell in a parts box and forgot about. Well I got anotther Atlas drive and came across the IORY 3842 shell in my box and to my suprise needed very little to bring it back from the dead, I had only harvested the rear number boards, a few grab irons, plow, & 2 windshield wipers. All the handrails fans exhaust stacks were intact, will post a few shots later today or tomorrow Here is what IORY 3842 is based on www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=604167www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=604166IORY87

Looks cool. Were you starting with an Atlas GP38 or Trainman GP38-2?

I started with an atlas silver series GP40 & added the Atlas GP38 dynamic brake hatch added 2 extra exhaust stacks & plated over the center radiator fan as per the real 3842.

Here is a shot of CIND 3841, which is based off of C&A's GP38 #3841. Ofcourse now I have rebuilt it without dynamic brakes and gave it a fresh coat of paint. This unit like 3842 is rebuilt from a GP40 with the middle radiator fan and added 2 extra exhaust stacks. Here is what CIND 3841 is based on www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=604033IORY87

Here a few pics of IORY 3842, 3807, & CIND 3841 All 3 are GP38's rebult from GP40's but IORY 3807 retains all 3 radiator fans where as 3841 & 3842 the middle fan is plated over. I used Plano 48" fan blank(welded style) on 3842 & on 3841(which i did 2 years ago) I used .10 sheet styrene to plate over the middle fan. 3842 needs a the "4" on the rar numberboard as it broke u when I was decaling, but I will get that done later IORY87
