Underframe details can be made difficult because it's hard to find pics with enough detail to show what's there. I was on trainiax and in the photo section I found several where these details are exposed by way of an upward angle shot. The lighting is not so bad that you can't see what's there, but if you have photoshop, you can best lighten the image using the shawdow/highlight correction tool. Here's for GP38-2s; trainiax.net/mephotosearchresults.php?p_mark=&p_roadnumer=&p_typel=EMD,GP38-2&p_typers=No%20Rolling%20Stock&p_keyword_b=&p_keyword_eq=&p_date=&p_location=&p_phototype=&p_rowsperpage=20&p_order=&page=2 and then click page 3 for more, page 1 didn't have any shots of underframe. There's other models: trainiax.net/mephotosearch-type.phpIf I come across more I'll post those too, anyone else finding urls or pics feel free to join in.

ooops! ya I copied the link from the wrong spot, this should work, just scroll down the page. Once you see a loco from a low angle, click on the blue 'large' link next to the image and then u can click again on that image to enlarge. If you have photoshop, you can download the image and then lighten the shadows and really see all the piping ect. trainiax.net/mephotosearchresults.php?p_mark=&p_roadnumer=&p_typel=EMD,GP38-2&p_typers=No%20Rolling%20Stock&p_keyword_b=&p_keyword_eq=&p_date=&p_location=&p_phototype=&p_rowsperpage=20&p_order=&page=2

GP40 underframe, with the pesky truck out of the way. I have various other shots.

Ted , from what I saw those are great and useful pictures. I think we need an area here on the detailer, to catalog and store pictures like that, so we have reference material in one central space.
However, there's something going on with my browser perhaps, everytime your photo page loads, i see the pics momentarily, but then it goes white/blank ... Will try another browser perhaps.

Hi Koos,
I agree it would be neat to have sub-folders that we all could refer to as users when working on something. I can see server space becoming an issue down the road. I'm still just the new guy here though to be making suggestions like this. I'll be getting the rest of my shots uploaded this week.
Best,
Ted

Those are very very nice Ted, thanks for posting those, I have a tunnel motor in the works! I like how you got in close on the very details I find very difficult to find. If you have any for a gp38-2 I would love to see them as I'm working on a few right now.
MoDeRaToRs: Is my first post in this thread an example of bandwidth theft? Should I remove that link?

Awesome pics Ted! I saved a bunch of the underframe shots so I can run the traction motor cables properly.
