Caught this Oak Grove RR SD50 today 12/2/2010 in Kosse, TX. I didn't have my telephoto lens handy to get a better shot. Looks kinda like what would happen if UP and BN would have merged

I like that picture. A single SD and modern open top hoppers. I didn't know BN had any SD50's.

They don't have SD50's, this is not the BN.

Guess I wasn't clear, I know it isn't BN but the unit looks like an ex-BN unit. Hence the question about BN owning SD50's in the past. Do you know the heritage of that unit? Cheers, Greg

I assumed you were going off the paint job , thats why I commented the way I did . This is most definitely an ex UP loco, one look at the plow gives that away ;D . Its the same type of plow they use on their Dash 7's and 8's and SD60M's

Ah, yes I was going off the paint job. I need to dig out my BN SD60 shots, don't remember the type of plow on those beasts. If that SD50 came from the UP then it could have been CNW, MP or DRGW to start with. SP and DRGW used big plows too, saw an ex SP GP60 with one the other day. Seems to me UP didn't start using the smaller plows until they bought the 4000 series SD70M's. Any way, it's good to see those SD50's still out there running off the miles. Greg
