Hi, That's my newest project I'm struggling with, building an EF-644e from an Athearn RTR. What I've done so far, I've corrected some flaws with the Kaslo cab kit. Here is the original Kaslo cab I carved off the rain gutter above the front windows and did the same to the sand filler hatches. The sand filler hatches have a wrong orientation on the kit, they must open up from the outer edges to the inner top. The rain gutter goes in a straight line over the top of the roof. As I build the "e" sub class, I had to relocate the compartment doors under the conductors side of the cab. I did that with parts from the original Athearn cab. I had to do some modification to the rear hood too. Cutting off the air conditioning unit. Correct roof hatches, X-panel and filter screen arrangements in dynamic brake and alternator blower areas. Close the recess for the rear sand filler, as the hatch sits on the roof. Installing a hood end door. Correct grab iron installations. Next step will be to open up the walkway section and installing a see through walkway grate. As with installing new details, I will post some detail shots.

Hi Steven, I planned using Plano Apex - Slotted Pattern Scratch Builders Material. The problem with that is, to me the pattern looks a bit wide, like you can plunge with your feeds through. I can't imagine now, how it will look, when it's painted. I have some Kadee Apex running board too. This looks more like you can walk over it. But this material is thick and you have to do more modifications to the shell. The Plano material can be laminated directly to the walkway, but then there is the problem with the chance of squeezing out glue through the slots. So I will prepare the shell for the Plano material, paint some Plano and Kadee samples, look what satisfies me more, and maybe make the additional modifications for the Kadee material. Once I've done the samples, I will post some pictures. But within next two weeks I will be occupied with doing some bench work too.
