OK here is the N scale bolster pin that i converted to a pulley for a ppw Gunderson Twin Stack car set it is way better than the pulleys that came with the kit and very close to prototypical size and look way better than the flash infested pulley that are a night mare to fix just to use them .and the kit pulley are under scale size.these are just a bit over scale size.but trade off is way better i think

Excellent use of resources, Terry!! I always seek out parts from different types of models (cars, military, etc.) as well as different scales. Beats scratch-building any day! ;D

;DOK to do this you need a Nscale bolster pins i take a pin drill it out from the top all the way trough .then I take a file and file the round head flat and to about the width of a flange.then i filed the lower end of the bolster so the pulley isn't so wide and flush.the beauty is it can be any width you need to finish a project etc..if you ever had the pleasure of building the PPW Gunderson Twin Stack car.I am doing 3 5car sets at one time.two set .s will be TTX and one set Sea Land aka CSX it all went together fine until all the small parts over 200 small load guides!and 140 stand offs for the break rods and the flipper actuating rods.but then the pulleys for the breaking system were a night mare.they were full of flash and a very poorly designed you look at them and they would break!after you trimmed flashing the part is so small it was almost impossible to handle tweezers it slipped out forceps's locked they would break well any way you get the idea now.hope you some of you can use this in some way.i have learned a lot from this kit and some short cuts and set back lol but tey are worth evey moment you put into them you can buy them pre assembled but they dont have nowhere the detail you can add for about $10 per 5 car set and they cost allmost a $100 s&h inclu!for a 5 car set.the kit 55.00

on more view i should have turned the pulley around i still can haven't glued it yet but you can see how much better they look then from the pics above^^^^^you can also drill a hole through the pulley flange and attach it like on the prototype.just look at the pics that come with the detail kit from PPW-A LINE.I think iam go pull out all the plastic shafts and replace them with brass rod and the new pulleys OH YEA!!!!!!! or if you are REAL RIVET COUNTER!!ya pain in!b--t you could attach the pulley to a small shaft or blot put it in a drill and with a rotary tool and turn it to what pleases you! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Later Guys starting a new hobby i am go count all the rivet counters have them send in pic a and critique their look !LOL sorry you are not of prototype specifications

you can see most of the details i have added the bearings/busching for the flipper rods .are small glass beads they look way better than what comes in the kit the kit has some real downfalls on its details. but they are well worth buying if you are willing to put in a bit of work the beads and the Plano products walk ways Thanks KEITH!!!!! you rock i made gromet /gussets to hold air hose that s not in the kit.i made the guards on the side out of pewter straping for model ships of the plank and board type witch i also do as a hobby,i also replace all the shafts for the brakes with brass rod.i made all the pulleys for the breaking system out of N scale bolster pins and with these simple fix.s the the gunny twin stack came out fantastic.the hobby industry really need to come up with a casting of coupled air lines so you can join the cars together for a great looking car set even if they have to make them a bit out of scale!
