Hey Everyone.
The Penn State Model RR Club has made the decision to modern-ize. The freelanced RR is the University Park & Eastern, based roughly in central PA.
As part of the modern-izing, the RR is acquiring second-hand equipment: SD40-2s, GP38-2s, and GP40-2s. I had an old Athearn BB dummy laying around(originally GATX 7457), and decided I'd turn it into a patch job for the club. I'm pretty sure that all future locos will be in UP&E livery, but you can't have modern RR-ing without a few "patchers" or "leasers", and I chose to kill two birds with one stone.
It's ugly, but is sure to turn heads!

I think a "Patch" topic would be a nice addition to the website, I've been patching quite a few units for my layout.

I recently designed and painted 3 SD40-2s(2 high hoods!!), and a GP38-2 in the UP&E's "Modern" paint. Here is a link to the video of 4 of them(1 still unpainted) running through Fourroux Gorge on the Penn State club layout.......2 units have sound. vid 1- grade crossing after starting up at interlocking..... vid 2- Fourroux Gorge Comments welcome! Thanks everyone! We're slowly getting things to a more modern era, A's evidenced by the early era reefers, but it's also nice to hear some modern EMD prime movers on the layout(that aren't visiting/privately owned).
I'll try and get some more video with my phone tomorrow:)!
